I have about 7K worth of credit card debt. I started a new job 5 months ago but have barely made a dent in the debt. I called both of my credit card companies, Bank of America and Capital One, they refused to lower my interest rates or help me in any way. What should I do now?

I have just about ,000 in debt from credit cards, and I can’t work full time because I go to school full time. I want to consolidate my bills so theres just one easy payment each month, not 10 or 11, because I can handle one. Does anyone know of any companies that help consolidate loans or credit card companies that give out high limit cards strictly to transfer balances. I’m only 19 and would never file for banctrupcy but I need to get them all organized so I don’t get to far behind in late fees.

And please, no lectures on "oh well you shouldn’t have used credit in the first place, you should have known this would happen." haha Yeah, I know. I’m kicking myself over it now, and I’d just appreciate some suggestions. thanks!

that it works like some kind of glitch or secret override code for the credit card companies? is it also true this can eliminate all your debt and pay off bills? it has to be a specific, random order; like "subway" "gas" "movies" "new car" "newspaper" "phone service upgrade" "stationary", in that order exactly, within 10 hours.
i heard it happens all the time to all the credit card company’s servers and mainframes. i also heard it is what is ruining the economy. i heard it from a good source.

So, here’s the deal:
I have credit card debts of about 0k in total from about 5 different cards (unsecured, non-joint) . I cannot pay this as my business is doing horrible due to an effing big market showing up not too far from my market. I own a house with my wife. My wife runs her business (doing bad as well). Both of our names are on both of the businesses. I’m considering moving all of the assets to my children’s names (21+) and not paying a penny to the credit card companies.
What will happen? What can the credit card companies do? If they do sue me and they win judgements against me, and I don’t pay the judgements, what will happen? Can I go to jail? Can they repo stuff? If they can repo stuff, what can they repo? Someone please give me some correct knowledge!!!

P.S. I really don’t want to file bankruptcy, but will do if it’ll eliminate debts (no repaying). I can also live fine with having horrible credit for 7 years

Sure they may seem like a good thing…eliminating late fees, not allowing a spike in interest rates for being late, increasing the minimum payment so the balance gets paid off quicker, but there are repercussions. This may help people who are irresponsible, take on more debt than they can handle, don’t read what they sign, don’t keep track of their finances, but to the people who do it the right way it will likely hurt them. Banks aren’t going to just sit back and allow their profits to be eaten away like this. Instead of late fees they will charge annual fees. Since they will be restricted when and whom they can raise interest rates on, they will just raise them on everybody for no reason before the law takes affect. Forcing customers to pay an increased minimum payment may be more than some can afford at the time and will drive them into bankruptcy (how ironic that will be) Maybe they can only afford to pay a month until they get out of college and get a better job, then they can pay it down more. Who knows what each individual person’s situation is, certainly not a mickey mouse bureaucrat in Washington. I remember about 4 years ago when some financial regulatory agency in Washington was just RECOMMENDING that credit card companies increase their minimum payment requirements and people countered by saying, oh well this is only a recommendation, and I told them sooner rather than later the day would come when it would be mandated and what do you know, it happened. Also, it will be harder to get a card in the first place. I say if adults are irresponsible enough to take on more debt than they can afford and businesses are dumb enough to lend it to them, let them both go down and let them live and learn and leave the government out of it, but I guess this is what people wanted they checked that little box that said "Obama" 11 months ago. A liberal is what you voted for and a liberal is what you got. A do-gooder, and yes I do mean that in a negative way. You say why doing "good" isn’t always so nice. Sure, I read that part in the law that says this new law is "optional" The problem is, if I choose not to follow the government rules, I have to close my account altogether and not have a card at all and all future card holders don’t have a choice and have to play by the government’s new rules. I have been a single mom for 9 years. I was using several credit cards for things we needed and actually was doing well making payments until the credit card companies began to increase their interest rates and amounts owed per month. My credit score was perfect. I never missed a payment. I began to be unable to pay what I owed due to increased monthly demands from the credit card companies. I spoke to a representative from Armored Debt Center who convinced me that they would settle my debts for amounts less than I owed, therefore giving me a chance to get out of credit card debt altogether and I agreed to pay 8 per month for them to do so. It seemed like the right thing to do for me and my family’s future. I have put a lot of effort into making that payment every month starting last October. Armored Debt Center told me not to answer calls from my creditors and sent me a script to basically get off the phone without telling them anything. I followed this advice. They tell you to tell the debt collectors that they are only to communicate with you in writing and then you are to fax everything to Armored Debt Center. When the first credit card company took me to court, I followed Armored Debt Center’s instructions to go to a particular website and retrieve documents to fill out. It was a website that anybody could have googled, not affiliated with Armored Debt Center. It was difficult to figure out what I needed to put on the documents that were to be sent to the court. At one point, I called Armored Debt Center and was told that they “cannot give legal advice” so I was left to figure things out on my own. I was told by Armored Debt Center not to worry, that this was part of the process. I filed everything the website suggested with the court. Prior to my court date, I called Armored Debt Center and was told nothing more than, “Don’t sign anything”. Judgement was awarded for the full amount, plus interest, plus court costs to the credit card company. I continued to keep in contact with Armored Debt Center and fax them everything that was sent to me. It would take up to several weeks for them to call me just to state that they received my fax. They have a well-rehearsed spiel that they give on a continued basis stating that “This is a process. Don’t worry. Keep faxing us documents sent to you. Don‘t give any information to debt collectors when they call you. Use your script. No further action is needed at this time.” They led me to believe that they would be settling with the debt collector “after my next payment”. This went on for several months with no settlement. Armored Debt Center did not settle my 44 debt with the very first credit card company that filed, after a full 12 months of payments at 8 per month. I had given them 96 of hard-earned money and they had not settled anything. Every time I would call, I would get the same run-around, rehearsed speech and be coerced into continuing the program. I would explain that other credit card companies were getting ready to take me to court. Now, the court has allowed the debt collector to garnish my wages by 25%. Because Armored Debt Center failed to settle with the first credit card company to take me to court and my wages are being garnished, I no longer have hopes of being able to get myself out of debt because I don’t have any extra money to give to a debt settlement company, or to save on my own, for such a purpose. At this time, my 3 other credit card companies have indeed initiated taking me to court and I have summons for those now.
I spoke to a representative at Armored Debt Center, Mark, about what had happened and that their debt settlement program had failed miserably. I called Armor Debt Center to ask for my money back for a program that had failed. He eventually said that he would give me back my “reserves” which was 38 but they would not refund their “service” fees which were 30. When asked what services they had provided for 30, Mark stated “education”.. Education on a program that did not work, that did not do me any good whatsoever, and in fact got my wages garnished and ruined my credit. My “education” was a script on how to get off the phone with debt collectors and what website to go to to fill out paperwork to send to court that anybody could have accessed. Upon further pleading with Mark, he stated that they would refund 3 to 4 payments. By the end of the conversation, however, he was saying 2 to 3 payments. Therefore, Armored Debt Center was intending to keep 98. I received an e-mail today asking me to sign a form stating that I will accept 32 back from them, which is only 2 payments and indeed would award them 98 for doing nothing that benefited me. I have been so stressed out, I’ve nearly made myself sick. I have heard that there has been a law passed to safeguard people from these debt relief scams. I have not yet had a chance to find out the specifics.

Enrolled in CCCS… close to having it paid off, 18 months sooner than they told me because I have paid more several times in order to eliminate the debt faster. Credit card companies never worked with me on their jacking up my interest rates, so I had no other choice (my situation was not that I was about to declare bankruptcy).

I sold my home last fall to relocate and am living in an apartment, but want to buy another home, cheaper than the one I had before (and my income has gone up since then). My credit score has also risen, I have checked… it is 715 now (was 635 when I signed up for CCCS).

Will I be able to get another mortgage as soon as the CCCS payments are done? Why, why not?

Thank you.
